This is my father's favorite chess set. It is based on a classic design where the bases of the pieces were wrapped in leather that was etched. They eventually figured out they could forgo the leather and etch directly on the chess pieces themselves. This will be one of the rare chess sets where the white pieces look better than the dark pieces. This set looks stunning out in the den and is sturdy enough to handle the abuse of tournament play.
