They are unlike most other chess boards on the market with their 2 playing surfaces. Made with exotic Blood Rosewood (Red Sandlewood), Classic Rosewood, and Midas Wood (a spectacular Sheesham). Once you appreciate the quality and craftmanship of these boards, it is not hard to justify the price. The frame and dark squares are Blood Rosewood, also called Red Sandlewood, which are contrasted nicely by the pure color of the boxwood white squares. The Blood Rosewood has a strong reddish hue that actually seems to have an inner glow. The chess board has a museum quality look to it that will make it an attention grabber no matter where you play on it. I recently brought this board to the National K-12/Collegiate tournament in Houston over December and sold EVERY board we packed. Our customers were shocked at the feel and finish of the boards.
