The opening classification contains more than 91,000 key positions, and the database gives you direct access to players, tournaments, middlegame themes and endgames. The player index now contains more than 179,000 entries, and the database of pictures has more than 22,700 photos now. The ChessBase Mega database allows you to perform extraordinary one-click searches, like "Player dossier" (finding out all about a specific opponent) or "Openings report" (finding out all the games, moves and plans in a specific opening). Big Database 2005 contains the same games as Mega 2005 but without the annotations and without the Players Encyclopedia. Installation When you insert the Mega 2005 DVD it will be automatically displayed in the database window. You can access the games straight away, but it is of course better to copy the games onto your hard disk for permanent, super-fast access. To install the database click the database icon and then use Install Database from CD in the File – Install menu. The files will automatically be copied to your hard disk. It requires 545 MB (572,128,311 bytes) of disk space. Mega Database 2003 will appear as an icon in your "My Databases" window. Right-click the icon and select "Properties" You should make Mega 2004 your "Reference database". This means that all one-click questions ("has this position occurred before?", "tell me everything about this player") are answered using Mega 2004 as the reference. Installing Playbase Also included on the Mega 2003 DVD package is a completely new edition of the Players Encyclopedia. The player index has grown to over 179,000 entries, the photo archive of 22,700 pictures. To install the CD on your hard disk use File – Install – Player Encyclopedia (as show above). |
